Day 5 Update: The 6th grade math students completed nearly 4 of the 16 letters today! They have placed 2,694 of the 5,050 cups and have finished over 50% of the project. #WeAreFosston #FosstonStrong

Day 4 Update: Mistakes mean we're learning! Today the 6th grade math students placed another 600 cups bringing the total to 1,983. They had to redo 3 letters that were off by 1 space, but they displayed great coping skills and met the challenge in stride! #WeAreFosston #FosstonStrong

Day 3 update: Today, the 6th grade math students placed another 500 cups for a total of 1,308 cups. It's starting to come together! #WeAreFosston #FosstonStrong

Day 2 Update: The 6th grade math students worked hard through the rain today! They placed an additional 683 cups in the fence for a total of 862 cups. #FosstonStrong #WeAreFosston

School Lunch Hero Day is celebrated on the first Friday in May. It's a day to recognize and thank the hardworking individuals who work in school cafeterias and provide students with nutritious meals. Today, the 6th grade math students started an end of year project in collaboration with the Magelssen Student Leaders. They will be placing 5,050 fence cups to spell out the words GREYHOUND PRIDE! The math students calculated how many cups of each of the 3 colors were needed for each letter and began placing cups into the fence. Stay tuned for updates! #FosstonStrong #WeAreFosston

Last Friday, the National Honor Society students hosted a Leadership Olympics event for the Magelssen Student Leaders. They taught leadership skills focusing on communication, collaboration, problem-solving, decision-making and integrity through breakout sessions, games and activities. Some 7th and 8th grade students recently attended the Young Authors Conference at NCTC in Thief River Falls. They learned about illustration, songwriting, screenplay writing, self-publishing, and more from writers and illustrators from across the state.
